PRODUCT INFORMATION

ABOUT OUR JEWELRY

All of our jewelry is individually handcrafted using a variety of quality materials combined to create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art.

Raw materials include semi-precious stones, pearls and Swarovski crystals. Re-purposed items such as sea glass (naturally tumbled by surf & sand), old coins, game pieces, china/porcelain and other discarded items also find their way into Trudy’s jewelry designs. By combining these varied materials with hammered, wire-wrapped or forged metals, primarily sterling silver and 14K gold-fill, Trudy creates her signature designs loaded with texture and detail.

ABOUT THE METAL

The standard quality of sterling silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper.

Gold-fill is produced by bonding a layer of gold over a base metal, usually brass or silver, using heat and pressure. It is a superior product to gold plate. It contains much more gold and will not flake, peel off when bent, hammered or heated. Gold-fill is not only beautiful, it is durable and affordable. We use only 14K gold-fill in our jewelry (not 10K or 12K).

Vermeil is created by electroplating 22K gold onto sterling silver. As gold is very soft, vermeil is delicate and must be handled with care.

The karat indicates the amount of pure gold in a metal. The higher the karat, the more gold in the metal.

CARING FOR YOUR JEWELRY

Please handle your jewelry with care by storing it neatly and keeping it away from perfumes, hair-styling products and body lotions. It is normal for metals to oxidize over time so we recommend that jewelry be kept in an air tight space to keep it brighter longer. This can be accomplished simply by storing your pieces in individually sealed plastic bags.

Sterling silver can be cleaned using a polishing cloth. If your jewelry is too fine and detailed, it can be cleaned using the following method:

- Line a small bowl (glass or ceramic) with aluminum foil.
- Add 1 teaspoon (approx.) of baking soda
- Fill with hot water
- Add your jewelry and let it sit until the water cools (about 30 min.)
- Rinse w/ cool water.
- Remove jewelry and, if necessary, using a soft toothbrush gently wash with diluted dish soap (like Dawn) and water to remove any dirt.
- Rinse and let dry completely

We do not recommend any harsh chemicals or sonic cleaners for your jewelry.
